In honor and celebration of the day of the arrival of His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III to this Saha world, the MWKY International Institute has scheduled a Fish Release Dharma Assembly for Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Marina del Rey, California to benefit the masses. At such an event, captive fish are released to signify the Buddhist practice of "Liberation of Beings" or "Life Release.”

In relation to this event, the Institute has received the following teachings. Although doing good and practicing selfless acts to liberate living beings and actively participating in philanthropic activities is the least a cultivator, Buddhist, and human being should do, it can only be considered as the most basic of moral acts.

In addition to the recent global misfortune of the economic crisis, natural disasters and pandemics added a strong blow to the financially devastating areas adding insult to injury. The most important in learning Buddhism and cultivating by the teachings of the Buddha is adoption of great compassion as the guiding principle which is predicated by application of loving care, kindness and consideration for the well being of sentient beings. In light of these facts and the many pressures many are suffering, it is in everyone’s best interest to be frugal in travel and accommodation expenses while participating in this event.

For those who will be unable to attend this dharma assembly but want to take part in the humanitarian act, it is encouraged that the event be hosted locally by local dharma centers. Please send pictures of the event with a simple description to the MWKY International Cultural Institute. Upon receipt, all submissions will be presented to great holy practitioners and dharma teachers for blessings. All are welcome to participate. May the merit accumulated from this practice bless you with the accumulation of good fortune and wisdom to reach the perfection of the Buddha.

The ceremony is free; but donations may be contributed for the purchase and release of fish; a contribution of $5 will buy approximately a half-bucket of fish. To reduce confusion, contribution will be accepted upon sign-up and registration at the Institute and participating local dharma centers or after the event at the Institute. Registration is available by phone, letter or fax. There will not be acceptance for on-site contributions. Please register before May 25, 2009 to allow for better accommodation. Bus transportation will be available from the MWKY International Cultural Institute at 707 w. Valley Blvd., Alhambra, CA to the destination. Because seats are limited, early registration is necessary.
